In case anyone likes to idly watch the sale, you can root for these ones going through xP Saratoga Select Yearlings are August 8th and 9th! Yearlings are officially not my thing, but I had some contact with these little monsters and we're super hopeful they'll bring us in a bonus (and be fantastic racehorses!!!).
#5: TOUGH HIP TO DRAW but I actually like Delmarva '15 because I walked her once last week and she didn't act like a yearling monster xDDD By Into Mischief, from the family of Forestry!
#108: New Normal '15, by Tapit. She'ssss grey. New Normal mare is a bit of a bitchish monster, but she comes by it honestly because HER dam New Economy is the worst. We actually foaled her outside by truck headlight at 2am this year xD But I digress. The yearling is out of a G3-winning mare, and from the same family as a bunch of good horses from her 4th dam, including Breeders' Cup something-or-other winner Soaring Softly.
#112: Opalite '15, by Congrats. I LOVE Opi mama, because she's just really chill and lovable. She can't have a halter on in the field because she loses them like nobody's business and sometimes gets her neckstrap over her ears too and wears it around like a fashionable Indian headband. I digress again. This is the first foal from Opi mama and she's actually really impressive to look at. Her 2nd dam produced well and her 3rd dam is Princess Rooney, who was pretty freaking impressive.
#122: Plum Pretty's yearling, who is actually OUT of the sale :(((
#165: Storm Tide '15, by Medaglia d'Oro. Half-sister to American Lion. She is OUT of the sale.
#174: Tiger Cat Lilly '15, by Arch. I actually had a lot of contact with this filly, because she was with us on the farm for like two months when I first started working at Timber Town! Lilly Filly is pretty cool, even if she does the I'm-a-yearling-and-like-to-bite-everything things. She's out of a stakes winning mare in a stakes-winning family. THIS is the one we want to sell the most, just to keep those bonus potentials alive xP
#222: I don't know anything about this one, she's just one we're consigning - but still! She's by the forever-missed Scat Daddy.
#227: I don't know much about this one either, I only saw him once - but he is an impressive-looking creature. Out of Capote's Crown, by Distorted Humor. This pedigree is pretty solid - he's out of a stakes-winning, graded-stakes-placed mare, and his 2nd dam produced the late stallion Smoke Glacken (G1 winner) and Smokey Glacken (G2 winner). His 'what have you done for me lately' pedigree game is strong.
AND though we're not selling them, some of my weanlings from last year are up to bat as well, so here:
#7: Diamond Corner '15, a super cute/handsome colt by Shanghai Bobby. He's got a solid pedigree, but no fancy names to throw out that anyone will probably know. His dam has already produces stakes-places horses.
#22: Esther Got Even '15, by Uncle Mo. She was kind of a pain in the butt, but Uncle Mos can be that way. Her pedigree is okay, but you have to dig a bit for it. She's got more of an international flare.
#61: NOT one of mine, but a half-sister to Songbird. So this price should be insane if she looks good.
#126: Promenade Girl '15, by The Factor. Half to Cavorting, and also from the family of Blueskiesnrainbows. JUST KIDDING she's out of the sale, poop.
#139: River Belle '15, by War Front. This one's got a special place in my heart. He was small when he was born, and looked just like one of the teaser ponies, Milo - so that's what we called him. He had more attitude than he knew what to do with, and had no issue pushing other weanlings around in the field. He was fearless. His dam herself is a stakes winner, and has produced multiple stakes winners. It's another one of those international pedigrees. ALSO JUST KIDDING he's out of the sale too :IIII
#244: Cool Ghoul '15, by Arch. I actually really didn't like this filly for a long time because of her personality, but the managers at Ashford were really high on her - they all said she would run. Her dam is a stakes producer, and she's from a long line of stakes producers.
